Magistrate Court moved: No politcal talk at Shanaka’s funeral
Minuwangoda Magistrate Ms K. K. A. V. Swarnadhipathi yesterday directed that the funeral of Roshen Shanaka, killed due to police firing during a clash at the Katunayake Export Processing Zone last Monday, should be held on Saturday (June 4) at 3.00 p.m. at the Roman Catholic cemetery. The Magistrate directed that the coffin couldn’t be moved anywhere other than from Roshen’s house to the cemetery after taking it to the local church. She said that except for a brother and Catholic priests no one would be allowed to address the gathering. The Magisterial order followed an appeal made by the family of the victim.
